Here at Piggl we love to look back at some of our all time favourite campsites and we have very fond memories of this campsite in particular as it was the very first night in our first ever campervan - our trusty old Vauxhall Vivaro.
FACILITIES:
Facilities on site are inside a large stone building which is clean and warm; with mens and ladies toilets and a unisex shower block (don’t worry - shower cubicles are individual and include a private changing area). In 2020, four new family shower cubicles are under construction. These will have underfloor heating, hot showers and a toilet. There is also a dishwashing area, laundry and freezer room, chemical disposal and a small shop where you can buy camping essentials and fire wood.
NEARBY:
The campsite is an ideal base camp to explore this beautiful region and you can walk up Snowdon mountain directly from the site or simply enjoy natural beauty by the lake - it's perfect for canoeing or paddleboarding.
We opted to spend our Saturday walking in the nearby low level mountains - we weren’t quite up for the full Snowdon hike in snow! And of course there are plenty of local pubs serving hot food and drinks nearby and who are very welcoming to walkers.
WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:
Nothing on our stay, but we hear this campsite is very busy in the peak summer season so book in advance.
WHAT WE LIKED:
Spectacular views over the Llyn Gwynant waters and easy access into Snowdonia for walking, plus a nice hot shower on our return.
